Not sure what's wrong?
Tell us what the vehicle is doing. We'll explain what we find before any work starts.
Overview
A trouble code tells us which system reported a problem, not which part has failed. Our technicians use the code as a starting point, test the system and find the actual cause.
Most diagnostic tests take one to one and a half hours. Complex or intermittent problems can take two to three. We tell you what we found and what the repair will cost before doing it.
What a diagnosis includes
- Reading stored and pending trouble codes
- Live data and system tests
- Engine control and sensor checks
- Ignition and fuel system checks
- Electrical and vehicle computer testing
- A plain-English explanation and an estimate
Bring it in if you notice
- A check engine light, solid or flashing
- Rough idle, stalling or hesitation
- Hard starting
- A drop in fuel economy
- Warning lights such as ABS, traction control or low coolant
- Electrical problems that come and go
Common questions
Yes. A solid light means a fault was detected and should be checked soon. A flashing light usually means a misfire that can damage the catalytic converter, so reduce driving and have it looked at right away.
A loose or worn gas cap is one of the most common causes of a check engine light. Tighten it, and if the light stays on after a few drives, bring it in.
Typically one to one and a half hours, and two to three for complex problems.
